Giclée Gallery
Giclèe is a French word meaning splash or spray. In the art world, a giclèe is a large-format, high-resolution print, made with a digitally controlled inkjet spray, according to a process developed in the late 1980’s. Because giclées faithfully reproduce the color and clarity of two-dimensional artworks such as paintings or photographs, they are found often in art galleries and museums. The processed images can be saved digitally, enabling additional high-quality reproductions. The images are usually fixed on paper or canvas and displayed under glass.
Giclées in our Shoel-Art gallery are made on paper that meets the finest archival standards. We use Hahnemühle acid-free, one-hundred percent fine art cotton rag with a textured matte finish. The Hahnemühle Company has been making paper since 1584 ! For canvas prints, our Shoel-Art giclées are set on LexJet Sunset Select matte canvas and mounted on BEST heavy-duty wood stretchers from Jack Richeson & Co. Kimberly, Wisconsin.
Each of our giclées is signed in the print and again on the reverse by the artist. All of our prints are endorsed with a Certificate of Authenticity.
